The 'standard' reference for the work of Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858, sometimes called Ando Hiroshige) is the volume "The Colour Prints of Hiroshige", by Edward F. Strange, Cassell and Company, London, 1925 (since reprinted by Dover).
Unfortunately, while this voluminous work has a most valuable lengthy Appendix which gives descriptions for each individual print in many of Hiroshige's series, it does not provide any sort of useful index into that Appendix! Herewith, then, is a list of where each series is to be found, by page number.
Descriptions are much as given in Strange. After the title is given the
publisher(s), then the format, then the date(s) (if known), and finally the
page in Strange where the list of prints is to be found. For definitions of
such terms as
oban,
chuban,
tateye, and
yokoye,
the reader is referred to the
glossary.
